The hospitality and business event industry has never seen a year like 2020/21. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, venues have watched their revenue crash – some by more than 90%.
Faced with this crisis, there’s a chance sustainability could be pushed off the agenda for many venues. However, research by Steps, working in partnership with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Planet B Sustainability agency, shows that prioritising sustainability has actually helped many businesses build resilience.
Using this research, including interviews with high profile Bangkok venues such as JW Marriott and the Rembrandt Hotel, we’ve created a concise guide to making sustainability work for hospitality venues in a post-pandemic world.
The guide, in PDF booklet format, examines how businesses have strengthened ties with local communities, nurtured staff and customer loyalty, come up with innovative solutions which protect both the environment and profits, and simplified supply chains.
It is split into five topics:
- Hygiene
- Building strong teams
- Strong partnerships
- Sales Strategy and menu design
- Change management
For each topic there are tips and case studies to provide inspiration for how businesses can incorporate sustainability into their agenda.
Many of us have been forced to rebuild our businesses in the wake of the pandemic. Using this guide, you can choose to do so in a way which protects both people and the planet for the future.
