Kim Chandler, 43, graduated from the Steps vocational programme in 2019, and started working in El Mercado bakery. Kim shares her experience in the video above, or you can read about it below. 

What is your name?
Kim Chandler.

How old are you ?
I am 43.

Where do you work ?
At the “El Mercado”.

And what do you do at El Mercado?
I do blueberry tart and cream and put the blueberries on top.

What do you like about your jobs at El Mercado?
I love to work there. And they have lockers. It reminds me of high school.

What do you find hard at El Mercado?
Sometimes I find it hard to ask them questions, probably in Thai.

And that is hard?
That is hard.

Tell me about some of the people at El Mercado? What are the people like?
They are beautiful, smile, friendly, nice, kind and polite.

How did training at Steps help you get ready for your job at El Mercado? 
I learn at Steps baking enterprise, customer service, and I serve drinks to the people, very nice and said hello and goodbye. That help me.

What have you learnt in your job at El Mercado?
I learn to make a strawberry tart for filling inside and put strawberries on top.

Anything else that you learned?
I learn a lot of things.

What is your hope for the future?
My future will be… family restaurant for children.

What will you have at the family restaurant?
Healthy vegetarian food and half-half.

What will your job be at the restaurant?
Owner of the restaurant.
