Steps Summer Programme

From June to August each year, Steps runs a fun, hands-on camp to prepare students aged 12-16 for work or further education.

“Having Bento during his holidays with Steps’ team was a boost in his self esteem. He left the week of work knowing he could do more and better. He just loves it so much that he asked me recently when is he having another long holiday, so he can spend some time at Steps again.”

– Bia, parent of Bento who joined the Steps summer programme.

Preparing your child for the next step.

The transition from school to work or further education can be intimidating for some children. Steps’ summer programme helps bridge the gap by providing work experience and helping learners develop functional skills, life skills and independence.

We know how important it is for students to feel engaged and socially connected, so we pick fun, practical activities based on their individual preferences.

We prepare learners for either academic or vocational progression post-16 in a range of areas including:

  • Enterprise
  • Using money
  • Cooking and barista skills
  • Office and administration
  • Digital media design.

Dates: Weekly from Monday 27 June – Friday 5 August 2022.
Programme timings: Weekdays from 8am to 2.30pm
Programme costs: 8,500THB per week. (excl. VAT)

Three things you should know about us…

We’re a social enterprise

We have a unique model: we run coffee shops and zero waste shops alongside our training centre. These act as spaces for our trainees to get hands on work, increase their confidence and gain social skills. Any profit made goes back into the development and growth of Steps, for the benefit of our trainees.

We value social skills as highly as academic achievement

We run a life skills programme dedicated to building confidence, social skills and wellbeing. Our training centres are safe, community spaces where our trainees can nurture friendships, serve customers who understand their limitations, and feel part of something bigger. When we transition trainees into work, we support their employer to deal with the social challenges they might face.

Our team is highly qualified and experienced

Everyone, from our vocational trainers to our team of therapists, is qualified to the highest standard, and training programmes are UK-accredited. Our therapists work functionally within training sessions to lend additional support. We are all Elkan trained and we’ve achieved a certification as a communication friendly environment. Many of us have friends or family members with autism so we truly understand the challenges this brings.
