The festivities might be over for another year but Steps won’t stop celebrating for a while.
We’ve been reflecting on everything our graduates, staff, business partners and wider community have achieved this year, and we can’t stop buzzing.
Here’s how we all nailed 2019 in so many ways…
Numbers
- Graduates who transitioned to paid employment this year – 13, including Akhil who joined the Hyatt Regency as a barista, Nicky who started as an admin assistant at El Mercado, and Anna who is now a kitchen assistant at Vegan Crush!
- Coffees sold to date – 30,685
- Events Steps attended this year – 67
New beginnings
2019 saw the opening of a new training centre in Phuket, along with a coffee shop and our FIRST EVER zero waste shop. Back slaps to all the staff and trainees who put so much into making this happen. And if you’re on Phuket, remember to stop by!
Training goals
Our therapy team kicked off UK-accredited Elklan training for teachers and learning support staff across Bangkok, including the staff here at Steps. Educators across the city are now much better equipped to support students with speech and language needs. We will continue delivering training into 2020, so check out our training for schools page to find out more.
Blossoming partnerships
Every single one of our business partners is so important to us. We spent November bigging up El Mercado, who employ five Steps graduates, for all they do to make employment in this city more inclusive. Check out the case study on our website.
Fame and glory
Our founder Uang was featured in The Cloud, and on PPTV. Max, another of our co-founders, made Thailand Tatler’s Generation T list of young leaders shaping Asia’s future. Steps also popped up on TNN.
Thanks to all of you for supporting us and helping young people in Thailand achieve their potential. We’re looking forward to seeing you in 2020.
